Default New Omega

I noticed last fall that my Omega seemed to load easier than it ever has. I got out to the range today with the 200gr XTP's and 50/40 MMP blue sabots. Not only did they load OK,they were very accurate. I shoot at a 7/8" orange dot glued on a pizza box. Real cheap targets. At 50 yds I had 2 touching and one just away-all in the dot. I moved out to 100 Meter line and put 3 inside 1 1/2" with 1 in the dot 2 just low and right. Same load-same aiming point-same impact. After all the rounds I have put through this rifle I can't beleive it finaly loads this well.

Shooting 100gr 777 MMP says that is the minimum load. I shot these before and accuracy was OK just had to pound them down the barrel.

Sometimes guns shoot better when they are broken in. I don't have any idea what the life of the Omega's barrel is but it should last forever. My Omega is loading easier also. I have JB'd the crap out of it. I know they used to say a 220 swift barrel had a life of around 2500 rounds. I let my barrel cool and the old Ruger Hvy Barrel Varmiter still shoot 3/4 "@ 100yds. Last week I shot my 3911 round out of it. That is at 3700fps so my Omega @ 1850 FPS will outlast me.

It's always nice when the rifle starts to work the way they should. Sounds like a great shooter.

That's a great feelin' isn't it? Glad to hear that you found an accurate load. I have yet to shoot a deer w/the 200g XTPs but every report I've heard has been good. Best of luck to ya!
