Default Buffalo Hunting

So where is the best place for bison hunting? I am currently thinking about taking a trip up to Sunrise acres to hunt with Ted Nugent, on a wild boar hunt with Buffalo.

Father just took one in Wyoming, free ranging & wild, etc....

Best place? guess it depends what you're looking for....

Custer County state park or whatever in SD has free ranging, though I think even though that's the case, they're pretty domestic....but they will qualify for the book, and you can simply buy a tag I believe.

So a huge ranch, even though fenced, may present more of a hunt.....and could probably go whenever and at a more fair price....

Sure you can figure it out with a tad of research

I've seen a lot of guys hunt a ranch in SD. I think its called Hawes Ranch. They buffalo hunt like it was done in the 1800's. Horseback hunt and camp in tipi's and a dugout.

I just checked and Hawes is right. http://www.hawes.org/hunt/buffalo.htm

They are also offering russian boar and elk now. I've seen their hunts on TV. It's pretty awesome. I'd love to try it.

Depends if you are talking about truly "hunting" wild bison, or whether you want to go shoot a fenced animal.

For wild ones, Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, and Utah have wild herds that can be hunted. I hunted them in Alaska and it is a tough hunt.

If you want to shoot one behind a fence, call a local bison rancher, buy one, unload it in a buddy's pasture and shoot it.
