wow what a gun. i had never shot a remington .22 and had thought there was none better than the ruger 10/22. boy was i wrong. i like the longer foregrip the rem has compared to the 10/22 plus it looks better. (the one i shot was the camo version). and in the owner's manual it says that it can also shoot 22 mags. so it can go from a plinker to a varmit rifle with the addition of a scope. (if it really can shoot 22mags) AND best of all my grandpa won it about a month ago in a raffle and he doesnt like it compared to his winchester so he might be giving it to me hurray.

DO NOT USE .22MAG! A .22 chamber is shorter and NARROWER then a .22mag.I't will not load and will blow up in your face.The manual is wrong.

exactly. you can shoot a .22 in a 22 mag now the bullet wobbles around in there its now a good idea but it works. if you have a .22 mag chipmunk its shoots .22sllr and mag all in the same gun with no problem. DONT TRY NONE OF THIS THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh... usually the manual, which is usually written by the manufacturer, knows what's it's talking about, but I could be wrong.

Personally I love my Remington 521T which'll shoot shorts, longs and long rifles. It's pretty darn accurate, too.

Shoot a box of shells (not magnums) through the 597 and count the jams. I had one that wouldn't shoot 3 shots without jamming. I cleaned it and cleaned it. They are junk.

i have had about 10 jams in easily less than 150 shells through a ruger 10/22 so i guess that means nobody should own one. maybe it is possibly the ammo being used? or maybe the clip was messed up. or maybe u and i both got lemons. is that possible?
