I shot my first deer with a 30-30, but didn't kill it, my dad had to finish it off. So technically, my first deer was killed with a 30-06.

I killed my first deer with a marlin 30-30 with just cross irons i was getting ready climb down when i saw a racoon i just had to shoot and by th tie he rolled over big ole 130 lbs and all moma doe came running out and all i had to do was yell whoa, she stop ,bam ,and she layed down and the hunt was over nail her through th front top part of her shoulder getting spne and all.

I shot mine with a 270. WIN. modle 721 with a wood stalk and a 4 power scope. A 4 by 4 rack from a sitting position half mile from are house.weed been driving all over the place on the ranch my dad works on and the buck I had planed on getting was gone so me my dad and a friend of ares came to a big gully and we saw a deer on the opposite side so my dad drove us around onto the other side and left me and are friend there and drove back to the other side. Me and the guy both had a licencs for a mule so which ever one saw it first and shoot and killed it got it. We knew the deer was fairy near to us but we couldn't see it since all the brush that was there, when suddenly the deer poped up and the guy I was hunting with got a shot and just skimmed the edge of it's butt and it would have easily survived so it kept running then it stopped and I plunnked down on my butt and fired and I knew I had hit it <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> when I got up there and had gotten it gutted out we saw that it had about an inch of fat in some places so after wrapping which we did are selves. We ate some and that was some of the best meat I had ever had. :)

i'm 16 now but i shot my first when i was 11 i harvested this button buck with a new england firearms youth 20g. for you younger hunters it's a great starting gun give it try.

I was thirteen years old(last year) and killed my first buck, I used a Browning A-boltII stainless stalker w/boss system(.260 rem.) That my dad bought me,topped with a 3x9x50mm Redfield.- It drives tacks!!! The buck started out at about 200 yards running dead away, my dad whistled and he slowed from the muley bounce to a trot, my dad was calling out the yardage to me as I tried to find him in the scope. I got him dialed in at 285 yards and squeezed it off. I have never been so excited in my life than when I saw him tumble down the Nevada hillside. I used Nitrex shells with 140gr. grand slams, the buck measured 26 inches wide and 18 inches tall,(4x4) He's at the taxidermist now and I can not wait untill I get him back. Not bad for my first deer. THANKS DAD

300. Savage open sight at 100 yards roughly and a headshot (which wasnt on purpose because it moved at the very last moment and ruined one of the antlers) and i was 14 at the time. Think it was more of lucky shot but it worked *l*
