RE: best kill shot
i am gonna say this (not to bud into a argument). if u wnat to take a head shot at least respect the game u are shootin at. dont say o its only a doe. take time, be ehtical. if u are confident in your shot to the head how bout a shoot for the heart and u wont ruin any meat. i got a doe tonight by the way. beautiful creature. will look even better on the grill:D

RE: best kill shot
I' ll take a neck shot if the situation allow for it If I had to take a neck shot I would make sure if I have the loung shot or the heart shoot before I shoot it in the neck. |
RE: best kill shot
Heart/lung shot. By the way congrats Beagle001

RE: best kill shot
I like to get the top of the lung and the bottom of the spine. it puts them down fast and is very humane. But that is only if I get a really good look and I have time to aim really carefully. If its in a lot of brush or very far, I take them through the heart and lungs. BB

RE: best kill shot
double lung is the best kill shot. i dont think a neck shot is a very good shot with a bow. it may be ok with a gun b/c of the shock but that would be the only reason to shoot one in the neck. personally, no heart/lung shot, i dont shoot.

RE: best kill shot
When you hunt, you should go for the area where you can down the deer with a little amount of error in shot placement, and one that will down the animal quickly and effectively.
Saying this...right behind the front shoulders, in the lung and heart area, is the best place to shoot a deer, whether using a bow or a gun. I doubt that any of us here can put 3 rounds on a quarter at 300 yards, so we all should be shooting behind the front shoulder, bowhunters and gun-hunters alike. |
RE: best kill shot
I would have to say that the double lung shot is the overall best.
|
RE: best kill shot
I will always go for behind the shoulder first. Next would be betweent an eye and an ear.

RE: best kill shot
the head broadside is like 4 or 5 inches the chest is about 8 or 9

All jokes aside, a broadside behind the shoulder shot is an excellent shot in my book. The only time I ever shot a deer in the head was when I accidentally gut shot a doe when I was 10 on my very first hunt. I wanted to put her out quick after that so I took our .44 and put one in her head. I felt awful, but ever since then I've practiced good shot placement and haven't missed the lungs/heart yet. |
RE: best kill shot
For a Deer ALWAYS lung/heart shot, Yes if u do hit them in the head they are out id ratehr be out fast but id also rather not have u shoot at me and blow my jaw or nose off first, just go for the heart or lungs it makes u a better hunter overall in many ppls eyes, squirrels always the head yotes it depends on the range and gun im using if ive got my .22 and hes 60 yards away ehadshot any farther and u dont use a .22 and u go for the lungs and heart, cats well i dun have any around ehre well i feel ive shared my "piece o' pie" Ovr *N* Out
