Hey all, haven't been around much. Gone on hunting and fishing trips, working, and having fun!
Just got back from my first annual (more to come) Small Mouth Bass Fishing trip. Spend 5 days in heaven catching the largest Smallies I have ever seen. Unbelievable the amount of fish, and the shear SIZE of these monsters.
I caught the largest Small Mouth of my life, and the largest one I have ever seen caught. Stats were 21.75" and 6.75 lbs. Caught overfifteen (15)bass this week over 18.5". Included just a few pictures of some 20+ inchers. What a week.
The setup.
Fishing Depth: 5-25 feet.
Tackle: Crawler Harness with Stinger, Cranks, Tubes.
Line: Berkley 4 lb. test.
Rod: Medium action Mitchell Pesca, Medium action Quantum Pro Qualifier.
Fished huge Smallies on beds or fished staging fish in deeper water.
5 - Gorgeous 20+, awesome fish.
4 - FIRST cast of the week. What a way to start, most agressive fish ever!
3 - 3rd largest fish of the trip. 20 and 7/8". Tube jigging.
2 - BIGGEST fish of the trip. 21.75" fish. 6.75 lbs. Absolutely massive Smallmouth bass. Crush a crawler rolling over its bed.
The empty bed of the fish caught above. This bed is over 6 foot in diameter. The wooden pole is a power line pole that you see pictured for reference. 17 foot of water.
1 - Second largest fish. 21" even. 6.125 lbs.and Gorgeous.

how does that help?
how does that help?
I modify most rigs with a stinger hook, in the case of a fish that just bites the tail of your real or artificial bait, most rigs won't hook them. Mine, in most ocassions, do hook them.
Using smaller diameter fishing line makes it less visible to the fish. Some fish could give a rip less, but big Smallmouth are big for a reason. The smaller line diameter makes the presentation look more natural, thus catching more, and often times larger fish.
