The snow buries/kills the food, and they don't have enough to eat, and they starve. Deer are great survivors, especially here in Wisconsin, but having 20 feet of snow will kill a lot of animals. Here, wolves and coyotes are the main factor.

cyotes, fishercats and bobcats reap havock on our deer herds when they yard up. plus the snow made it to hard to even move to get to food plus there was no food so alot were found dead standing in snow drifts. this morning on the news it said worst year ina couple decades

yea we find dead deer alot during turkey season and yea we have a pile of moose but even the moose took it hard last winter. they sink in so deep and the coyotes run on top and have perfect access at their necks
