A whole week!!!!! Wow they're really serious in your state. Mine was only a day and a half. It was pretty easy because my husband had already taught me everything.

The thing they really emphasized was identifying your target and accounting for what's behind your target. The worst thing you can do is shoot at some movement in the brush. Guys have shot their own kids that way.

Hunting and shooting is about the most fun you can haveafter a couple of other things.

WOAH DLG!!!!!!! for the sake of this forum i wont ask what those things are that are funner than hunting

and silent, very nice. i had to do the same thing back 6 years ago now. really not to tough to get through if you can manage to stay awake. if its a week long....how long do you have to spend in the classroom each day? surely not to long

I'm also wondering what they do for a whole week. Beyond the basic safety stuff, the rest is pretty much one on one or learn by doing it yourself. Daddy has been teaching me to stalk deer, but it's a skill that will take me a long time to learn. Not much competition though. Most people don't consider crawling through mud and getting burrs in your hair necessary to hunting. But it's a heckuva lot of fun. (If your mom pours vegetable oil on your hair, she can comb the burrs out more easily.)

Ours was 2 days, one full day in the class room and part of the day taking the test, getting your hunters ed certification. A week seems pretty long but with some of the kids in my hunters safety class, i would have rather gone a week.

Mine was three days, saturdays actually. We did in the classroom stuff for a couple hours, then they spoke about how to shoot a certain gun(hand-gun, shotgun, and rifles) before takeing us to the range to go shooting. I cant imagine it takeing more then three days, but some of the hunters i have seen need it to be a semester-long course if its going to sink into them
