I have trapped them a couple times.... just take a jug and tie your wire to it...then it floats around...I like it better than hooking it to the bank haha. Also I've caught a few by hand. One almost killed me....it was like the lochness turtle.... yikes...
No one will believe you unless you tell us the story behind this!!!:D
I still wouldn't believe him :D

Softshell turtles are also very good as well as the regular yellow belly turtles. The latter are really a pain to clean though.

The softshells are mostly in rivers. The Great Miami is full of them.

best way to catch em is with a 22right in the head but if ya can't use one we sit in ponds and wait for m to come up for air and the throw a live worm right on top of m and real m up to them boat the use a frog gig just hit'm in the head and then there over wit and throw m bk into the pond

I live just north of Dayton in Harrison Township. I am close to the intersection of I-70 and I-75. The Great Miami is full of softshells up here. We even catch them on rod and reel while fishing for catfish. I have caught some big snappers as well, but that is usually later in the summer..
