thats sux. this morning me and my ol man went out, its his season right now and we had a jake a tome and two hens in an apple orchard coming on a string to the deke and these *******s in a white jeep cherokee stopped out on the rd about 1/4 mile away and started raping their box call like nobodys business. that pretty much ended it for us. i was a little pissed but there will be other days. im gonna TRY to kill ine w/ my traditional bow when my season opens
we're using crossbows

-CC
what have you got for a crossbow?

RE: turkey hunting

excalibur exocet 200
-200 lb draw weight
-330 fps

and my bf was using my dads x-bow

excalibur exomax
-225lb draw weight
- 350 fps

excalibur makes the best crossbows. i have to pull the arrows every shot on target shooting or ill just end up robin-hooding them

RE: turkey hunting

have you shot them through a cronograph or is that a factory rated speed. maine just legalized crossbows last year. i think it would be fun. i can imagine that they could be deadly accurate compared to a regular bow. your taking most all the human error out of the mix. i know your canadian but here a little secret most ppl know lol....shoot at a different spot lol you have to w/ reg. bow too or you'll ruin arrows, not so many robin hoods all the time but youll tear veins and feathers or bust knocks.

the target we have is getting pretty old, so there is only so maky places you can shoot on it before you arrow does go through and ruin the fletching, so you get my point lol, or else yes, i would shoot at a different spot, same witht he 3D shooting competions, we shoot and then pull they arrows imediately for the same reason.

mine was shoot through a cronograph and it goes a little faster than its actually said to, it goes about 334 instead of 330 but its not that much of a dif. the other bow wasn't shot through a cronograph.
x bows are a lot of fun

RE: turkey hunting

my compound will shoot 301fps w/ my hunting set up through my crony on a "cold bow" after 10 shots or so a "hot bow" it only shoots in the low 290's which is still decent. im not really a speed freak. my traditional bow which is pretty fun is only about 160fps lol. my 3-d comp bow ( same make and modle as my hunting bow but has some mods) is 323fps on a "hot bow"but my arrows are on the verge of illeagle.5.1 gr per pound. (5.0 being the min.) i shoot open class and they do/will check your stuff if you shoot in the 90's

they have 3d shoots for crossbows??? thats awesome!
