Default bad day at the range

Today I went to the local target range to sight in my new Marlin .22 for the squirrel season with my dad. I got the target up, loaded the gun and took the first shot..only one problem, i didn't hit the target. haha..took me about another 7 shots to hit the edge of the cardboard then over adjusted and lost it again. Finally...50 rounds later (no lie) i was punchin'the bull's eye. Musta taken about a good three hours to get it dead on though

Can't say as I've ever heard of anyone having that much difficulty sightin in a .22, let alone a Marlin.

What was the problem? Was it you or was it the sights?

Every scope I've ever purchased for a .22 has been within 1 - 2 inches of where I'm aiming. I've had problems with scopes onlarge calibre rifles like .30-06's and .308's, but never .22s. I never bore sight my rifles, either.

This just seems really odd to me.

Yeah, it was really odd to me to. But im pretty sure it wasn't my fault 'cause the first shot i took i aimed at the center of the target from 25YARDS and i didn't even hit it (!). It was a new scope also that hadn't been boresighted and i think it was a little bit touchy or somethin'. i just dont know...but i know i was lookin' down the right end

yea i wasnt saying that they are all gonna be 3 hours days just trying to hit the target im just saying that it is a possibilty, i to have nver had trouble getting a 22 on but it took a few hours with my 270 just to hit the target, once u get on paper it is all easy from there just doin the minor addjustments
