Just wondering what sports you guys (and girls) play for your schools. I personally run cross country and play lacrosse.

Well I used to play soccer and baseball, but I can't any more due to an injury.:(
So now my main "sport" has become hunting and I will still downhill ski in the winter. |

I made the decision a long time ago not to play school sports. Hunting season(s) tend to fall during all the school sports offered and I can't make myself take the time out of my hunting to play sports that won't mean that much to me later on.

Baseball & Football. I use to play basketball but got tired of the wind sprints and the coach. It takes away from hunting time but I can only play H.S sports for 4 years of my life and have had some of my best memorys on the mound.

i dunno, in some schools there are riflery programs so maybe...., but if he means that as a hobby than no it isnt a HS sport

I run Cross Country and am pretty good for being an ex-football guy. i quit football caus you lose too much bowhunting time for it especially during playoffs which is the same time as the rut.
I also LOVE baseball. I play pretty much everywhere but am best in the outfield. |

well whatever you want to call it, but we compete in comps. and will whoop KY'sbutt some time this year PSE. i have a buddy who might get a scholarship for shooting sporting clays. he got the #2 spot in the nation like 2 yrs ago. Hunter hopkins. he is darn good and i hope he gets the scholarship.

Go shoot at an actual certified compettition and come back and talk. Until you've shot at the level that the majority of these shooters are at, you've got no room to talk. I've shot at local and state shoots and it's a lot more difficult than you might think.
Also, don't speak for the majority of Americans. Until you've talked to the majority of Americans you can only speak for yourself. Don't generalize, it makes you look even more ignorant. |

PSE . sorry to burst ur small bubble that you live in , but ESPN did a segment on the top 25 hardest sports , boxing was # 1 , Ice hockey 2 , soccer 3, basketball 4 and archery came in at like # 5 . so if we r talking wussy sports , look at ur football , not even top 5 , that sucks huh....... i mean u get all those breaks between every play , the hits r at a top speed of maybe 10-15 mph , and anyone can run around and catch a football ..... but to be able to range yardage , tune ur bow , use all the special equiptment , that seems a lil more like a sport to me.... im not ragging on the sports that you play , but you should think a little farther into detail. I personally play ice hockey , one of the hardest to play , skating up to 35 MPH on a 1/8 piece of steal , dipping , dodging , carrying a puck , shooting , gettin hit , hooked , slashed , fighting , some plays lasting up to 12 minutes without a break , so it all is in the eyes of the player , but archery , rifle , and sporting clays r all definatley a sport, hell even dog competitions r concidered a sport!

Baseball, football, wrestling, track and field the first three years of HS. I started to smoke so i didn't after that. Happy to say that i quit smoking but the damage was done [:'(]

as far as archery bing a sport- it isnt any more of a sport than cheerleading is. |

thought of play football when i started hs but dont know thought about starting this year,but the only thing is ive never played before and did not figure i would play alot cause of starting so late,,but it would be neat to do,,and to be able to say that i did something in high school,,

how can you say that archery isnt a sport, is it a challenge? yes. competitions, yes. coachs, yes. everything is in bold print right there moron. Shooting sporting clays also a sport, takes talent, and effort, just like all sports. do you know exactly how hard it is to shoot archery for competition using no sights, a genesis bow? It takes a good method of trying to come up with a way to aim, posture, follow through, everything. You are an idiot if you dont consider shoooting and archery a sport, PSE, again, you have no logic or any reason for saying that. Find some solid evidence before you go around and let BS come out of your motuh. You are ignorant and need to mature before you can further post stupid things like that. Archery - a NATIONAL sport that we do in school with our teacher. read about it.

soccer is just as rough as football except without the pads. i have no problem going up to a senior and showing him whose boss. soccer also requires a lot more stamina b/c we dont stop after every play. |

it is challenging, i will admit that. it has everything that a SPORTS team has. difficulty has nothing to do with it, along with talent, effort, ect.i think uare the one who needs to keep his mouth shut, and just listen once in awhile. u have no logic for saying that he needs to mature, and that he is a moron.*EDIT BY RH*and listen for once. then u need to get rid of ur bias, and really look at this matter from all sides before making a decision on it. You do, however. If you get so easily worked up that you have to bring fowl language, however censored, into a conversation that a lot of younger members will see, then you need to grow up. Personally I think archery is a sport and I wish we had it in my highschool, but we don't because I'm in the middle of nowhere. I don't technially play any high school sports but our ice hockey team is sponsored by our school, so whatever.

Sport- an active diversion requiring physicalexertion and competition.
Read this definition and tell me if archery is a sport. In archery,oneis physically doing an activity and competing. You say that archery is not a sport, but you fail to realize that this is your opinion, and your opinion is not valid in changing the above mentioned facts. |

I proved to PSE that archery is a sport. I would type it up here, but it is too long. I don't know if PSE would even want me to post it. I was a bit harsh, but I was right!
