RE: strategized treestands
Sawdust
How deep is that tube buried? Also how did you calculate the weight of the tube and stand vs the weight of the 2 yards of concrete footing? I'm curious as to the formula. Jeff |
RE: strategized treestands
The pole is in the ground 8',,,The tower stood there all summer,,,but this past fall it got pretty windy and the tower would move back and forth a little, well it kept doing this and it reamed the hole bigger,,,the weight was not a problem,,but the moving was !!! I attached a pic ( hope I did it right ) . I pulled the tower upright with a chain hoist ,,dug the 5'x5' hole and poured 2 yds of concrete around it. The concrete is just there so my hole does not get oversized Sawdust,,,

This spring I plan on putting 2 cables on the tower. I will come off the tower and come down to an anchor in the ground. I was at the tower yesterday and I noticed that a coyote is using it for a scent post. If I get the chance I will smoke his ASS !!!

RE: strategized treestands
The studded walls were built on the ground and handed up.The tricky part was putting the steel skin on.Had to reach through the window openings to screw the steel on !! But it all worked out, Put this tower on a ridge ,in the middle of the corn field,,it is surrounded by timber, and the deer are always feeding here !!

RE: strategized treestands
i ordered a few more food plot books last night from amazon.com and saw an interesting book by gary clancy call Treestand Hunting Strategies: A Complete Guide to Hunting Big Game from Above .. has anyone read this book?
i'm still "searching" for a tower stand design to build this spring.. a few months ago, a deerhunter in nebraska (paul w.) emailed me his tower stand he built using an old windmill for the base frame. i really liked the concept of using an old windmill for a stand, w/ a "day's gone by" sorta' feeling... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
