Default RE: Does the plotsaver work?

I had posted this last year when I tried it, and it works. It's a simple bag fence, using white plastic bags from the stores. Little electric fence posts will work. just put a stout string around the perimeter about 30-36" from the ground. Tie plastic bags on it every 3-5 feet. (poke holes in bottom so it don't fill with rain.) Colored bags don't work well. I protected a half acre of Austrian winter peas last year this way and normally the deer would pull them out by the roots as soon as they sprout. The bags must give off a glow at night and with the movement, is just enough to keep them at bay. The cost is mighty cheap, just the posts and some stout string, the bags come free with your purchases. Wind will cause them to bunch up, so you need to check them often. Got the idea from an old timer who uses them to keep deer out of his truck patch. He used nothing but white bags, too. Try it, you'll like it.
A lot of the fellows say that this will not keep them out long. But I found that they will work 2-3 weeks. By that time the Peas I planted had a good start. They did eat some, but I had a solid crop in the spring.

Default RE: Does the plotsaver work?

I just planted 3 acres and protected 2.5 of them with the plot saver so I will see how good it works and will report back on it. We have at least 70 deer per sq mile here may be more and we could never get anything established before the winter because there is very little else for them to eat. I planted mossy oak bio logic premium perennial. I planted this plot on aug 8th and will leave it up until the 1st or 2nd week of oct. We do put out cages to monitor use in all the plots and we have tryed everthing else but after they get used to the other scare tactics usually in 2 to 3 weeks they eat it to the ground I have even seen the deer trying to push over the cages.
