Two Corn Plots- last post 10-19-04

We own 180 acres - about 30-35 acres of it are old fields - or pipeline. The field with the RR corn/tractor in it - is about 15 acres. The plan has been to split it up with tree plantings and corn plots - to make several soybean and clover plots. This way the field is "huntable", with the prospect of a deer around every corner - instead of a 15 acre, overgrown, barren field like when I was younger.
Yep that's the tractor we use mostly. That is my Father's International 504. Its been a good tractor - though I see from the picture it could use a paint job. -

Thanks FH, I have a Massey Ferguson 135 that I got when I bought my house and property so I was wanting to know for a long time what type of tractor you were farming with.
Thanks!

I guess you never recovered the John Deere that was buried in the mud, eh.
I will not forget that you suckered me with that one.
You've gone a long way with this and I'm still tuned in. Thanx!

Always enjoy reading your posts.
I only got to page four in reading so iof this question was already asked i apologize.
This summer I worked for a lawn irrigation compnay and was in charge of weed and feed. Could you spray the urea with the round up and do it in one shot? I ask because I use urea and Trimec together for lawns.

buckmine, you ask wether you can or not mix them together, I don't know, but I wouldn;t, yopu could be setting yourself up for a synergistic effect and end up with nothing. I wouldn't use the urea if I was trying to kill the vegetation.

buckmine - thanks
If you were knifing in the urea - it would probably be ok - but most people knife in Anhydrous not urea. If you were over-the-top-spraying liquid Urea - I'd agree with Ron and say - "probably not" - because the Glyphosate needs a chance to work on an "actively growing" plant (weed). and a liquid Urea application at the same time - might cause the weed to "go dormant" in response to the quick fix of Urea - reducing the Roundup effectiveness.
However - with that line of thought - a spraying of Round up 1 week after Urea incorporation would be a good thing. Once the plants (weeds) have a chance to get accoustomed to the N, they grow quickly - the Roundup at that stage would cause a very quick reaction.
