Default Deer and apple tree bark......

Will deer strip the bark of a young apple tree?

yep. ever driven by an orchard, and seen the protectors around the bases? and they love the branches, too. just keep them fenced until they are five feet or so.

Deer will eat the young growth and leaves off apple trees pretty well year round. In the spring and summer it seems like it's a treat to them as they don't get much volume from it. I guess they pick up a sweet flavour from the apple tree growth.

Well the deer are defineatly hitting this one tree. We have four that are all within 50 yards of each other. They seem to be hitting only one. I have gone out and put back the wire mesh we took down this summer.
