Planting Corn/
I'm New to this board and find it very useful! I looking to plant a one acre of corn this coming summer, soil is sandy loam in Central Wis. I limed it the last 2 springs and planted it with Rape and Turnnips. Ph I believe is 6.3. Any advise on what type of corn or what prep work before planting?
Thanks, |

RE: Planting Corn/
Id have to agree with whitetail definitely go with the roundup corn, but see if you can split a bag with someone as a bag runs over a hundred dollars and will plant 3 to 3.5 acres. Id also say too hit the plot with another 100#s of 20-10-10 right after you spray the round up.
Is this the only food plot your planting? If so I wouldnt recommend planting corn. A one acre corn plot could get wiped out before it even had a chance to grow ears. You would be better served to split the plot in half or in thirds and plant a good clover mix like biologic in two thirds of the plot this spring and plant some oats or wheat in the other third closest to your stand in Sept.. |
