Default Swamp land plot

New here but seem to end up here most the time I google search, tons of info here. Im in central ny and I have about an acre of swamp land with crab apples on end and one side. Spuce/ larch stand on the other side, and it get very thick on the other end just before my property line. It's fairly open with a few poplars and couple thick bushes. It's is very wet this time of year and in the spring ny mid June I can normally drive across it with my small tractor unless it's a wet year. Is there a crop that would do well in this environment? And is it worth trying to plant the deer travel threw until the applea are gone so wondering if I can plant something.to keep there interest later in the year

best advice is start with a soil test, from there you can have an idea on soil, and what it will support or not, or what all will be needed to do to it, to make it productive to grow a plot on it

yes there are crops that are more tolerant to wet soils than others, but they will all need certain soil qualities to grow in, beside just moisture amounts!
and not trying to take anyone from this site or promote another other side
BUT if you get on here (all things habitat,
https://habitat-talk.com/index.php
you will most likely gain a LOT more info, much more dedicated food plotters there than here IMO
and some are way deep into details you might find useful
