Dan O., stopped at the grain elevator on the way up to the property up north and got 50lbs. of minerals for 12 dollars U.S.. The mix is not identical to what I had printed from your analysis but is so close I do not think it will make much difference. I poured a berry pail of it over a pretty well rotted stump. I'm anxious to see how well it works out. Thanks again for all your help with this, the soap and the apple tree site. terry

Does your State offer nursery stock? This is the cheapest option in NY that I've found.

If you're in it for the long haul, and want to plant alot of trees, you might look into hardwood cuttings as an option, I'm considering it right now for Apples and Grape vines.

I've had problems with the deer eating trees in the past also. I tried hanging bars of soap and it worked fine but man it was a lot of labor. 200 trees takes a long time to hang soap. My solution to this situation was to purchase scented liquid soap and put it into my fruit tree sprayer with warm water. About 2oz. soap per 1gal. water. I spray my saplings once in the spring and once in the fall and it seems to work very well.

Early riser, that is similar to how I fenced my apple trees. How big do you allow the trees to get before you remove the fence?

Try stark brothers or even better still look around locally i even saw apple trees at home depot for sale now.
