Default Small Clover plot weed problem

I am having a major problem with broadleaf weeds in a 1/4 acre clover plot I have. I have purchased some slay herbicide but it stays residual in the soils and is listed to harm brassica planting for 40 months. I typically rotate clover and brassica.

I have tried mowing the weeds when they get taller or almost as tall as the clover but I inevitably cut some of the clover too. How often can I now without damage and when will the weed competition lessen

Thanks is advance

I have planted "quick plots" before where I went in with a trimmer and cut down the grass and weeds, then spray weed killer, then spread 10-10-10 fertilizer, then disc everything in to have very fluffy dirt, then spread my brassica seed. I would do this 60 days before season starts and the weed killer got rid of the weeds but didn't kill the brassica seed. I like to over seed plots. The brassica bulbs don't get as big, but the brassica chokes out any weed seed left in the dirt leaving the brassica as the dominant plant. Also for my clover plots twice a summer I cut them to stimulate young growth that the deer really like to eat. I don't cut it low rather just take the old tops off. I hope this helps you.
Good luck!

You may could try 2,4-D,B. NOT 2,4-D!!! 2,4-D will damage your clover. Talk with your local Co-Op or country agent to get a good idea of what you have, pull a few samples and bring with you. Or even a farm chemical supply store. CPS, Helena, Sanders Inc, Green Point Ag. Most have a crop consultant on sight.

Check Keystone pest solutions. Get some Butyrac gallon is like 44 bucks it is for broadleaf in clover and other things.
