First Mast from planted Oak
Hi Guys,
4 years ago I planted a dozen hybrid Burr X English Oaks.
These were seedlings, about 16" sticks really.
Now the ones planted out wild, where they are having to compete with weeds ect. are 4-5' tall. This is better than any pure strain Oaks I've planted so far.
BUT I planted one of these hybrid trees in my yard, with a week mat. It's also gotten a more fertilizer, watering ect. This tree is a solid 7' tall.
And best of all the other night I was out in the yard & as I walked by this tree I saw it had 2 acorns on it. YES!
Very happy camper! ! Just wish I'd planted dozens instead of just one dozen. But you can be sure that I'll make sure to give the wild growing ones better treatment next year! !
