Default Saw a big one

Normally - I don' t get to excited about " big deer" sightings I hear about - Usually it turns out to be a a Good Buck (maybe 100" B&C) but not much more. So.......... the other day, one of my hunting partners says" saw a good 10 point last week" and I' m thinking - like how well did you see it, did you count 10 points, was it 1 2-1/2yr old 15" buck, etc. etc. - and he says I got it on tape - and it was in a field not 1.5 miles from our cabin.

When I looked at the tape I was surprised - not so much by the size of the deer - but by the fact that my hunting partner didn' t realize the SIZE of the buck he had taped. Hold on now - its not like its B&C - but it' ll score easily in the 130s maybe 140s - 22" + main beams and 10" G2 & G3s.

I spent some time tonight plotting the route he would have to take to get to our hunting property (assuming he was in his core area). Its like a 1.5 mile Dogleg - and VERY likely that we will at least have him passing through during the rut.

My freind' s camera is a good one, if I can get a Still Pic, I' ll post it.

Still 3-1/2 weeks till opening day here. Most of the bucks have lost velvet by now. I' ve seen a few, including a decent 8 point (I' d take it) in the soybeans I planted - but no real great bucks on ours yet this fall.

That' s great news. I' m heading down to the farm this afternoon for a dove shoot Sat. and I' m also going to check out that clover plot in the lower field. We found some nice sheds after last season so there are a couple nice bucks down here also. These guys don' t come out much during light though. Good luck getting him!
