Default 1 year! What a difference.

A deer we named Lopsided last year met his match Sat night here in NE OK. My oldest son has been after this deer all season and had passed on several very nice 2 and 3 year olds. This old feller was roaming a hillside trail with a small 3x3 when Haydn took the shot. Haydn did a great job....put the 100 grain CoreLokt 243 on the hi shoulder and dropped Lopsided in his tracks...

This is another well above average deer for NE OK and are very proud of our Nutra Deer feeding program we started last year. Included in this post is Lopsided's pic from Dec 2010 and 2 trail cam pics of him in 2011. We are very pleased with Lopsided's noticeable improvements in 2011, especially the mass throughout the entire rack. Again, lopsided is not a giant farmland buck but he is a great example of the benefits of supplemental feeding in non agriculture areas with very poor soil conditions. We have some awesome 2 and 3 year olds coming off the rut now and they have started visiting the protein feeders very regularly in the last few days. No doubt these 2 and 3 year olds will be in much better shape going into the spring 2012 after a winter of munching on the hi-fat and 20% protein Pro Antler.

As a side note: The antler growing conditions here in NE OK was just about as bad you you can get in 2011 with our record breaking drought and heat. After the 1st of May a lot of our browse, grass and food plots were already starting burn up.

Congrats, I bet your son and you are thrilled! Keep up the good work! We have similar conditions down here in central AR. Not any crops around, not great soil, but we didn't get hit with a drought like you guys up in OK. Best of luck to ya!

Always fun for young hunters to get trophy size deer. Makes them appreciate and want to continue the sport. Always love those racks that have close tips. Tell your son congrats!
