In our experience the deer will eat the brassicas when they are the best thing for them to eat. Here in West Virginia that has been from August to October depending on when they were planted and what else the deer have to choose from to eat.

I planted some Shot Plot this August and they started eating them in mid-September. Other years they have waited until late October.
