Default DIY Water Holes

Anybody know some good references or links to DIY water holes? Got any pics of your projects?

A lot of guys around here just dig a hole and cut a 55 gallon plastic drum in half and bury it. It's not a huge water hole but it gets the job done.

You could also use a rubber roofing membrane or even an old pool liner if your soil won't hold water very well. You can finds those from people selling them on craigslist quite often. Just grab a shovel and a mattock and go to town.

By that thinking would those little kidie pools they sell end of spring/early summer do the job if we wanted some thing a little bigger?
Or would the UV rot it out in a year? hhhmmmmm

Can you use a front loader to dig a water hole?
