Default Where to buy cedar trees?

Does anyone know of a place that sells cedar trees(sapplings)? I've been looking for a while, and haven't come up with much. I usually buy from the Va Forestry dept, and they have quite a selection. However they don't sell cedar, and won't refer me to anyone who does. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

See if this will help. When you get to the site click on catalogs or About's Top Five Sources Online.

Greg-Dude,

You made me curious when you said:
"You can come to my farm and dig up several thousand of them. Please?"
Why would you want to get rid of your cedar trees?
Gary

Like Mo. here in OK the damn things grow wild. I have seen them take a 80 acre bare pasture and turn it into a cedar forest you can't see 20 yards in any direction in ten years! they're a nusance!

but i've never been busted hunting out of one though! you don't need tree climbers and when you trim it to hang a stand the sap is an automatic cover scent. Deer just dont look up in them. I've had does bed right under me on 65 degree days.

Like eyegaurd said, they grow wild and furious here in MO. I farm and manage wildlife both. Cedars can take over a pasture and also a clearcut if not controled. Too much of a good thing I guess.

I find this fascinating. In Michigan it is very difficult to get cedar seedlings to grow, the deer eat them as fast as they come up. On mature trees you can see the browse line on any mature cedar tree around here. They are nibbled up as far as the deer can reach.

Are we talking about the Eastern Red Cedar here or some other type? I was aware of cedar being a food source, but around here I considered the deer to be in dire need before they even touch them. I have never once seen a deer even munch on one. Mostly here the deer use them for rubbing/scraping and as bedding site in young thick stands of them. Very interesting.
