RE: Bio-Maxx test
Hey IL, I just planted some rr soybeans and mixed in some corn in part of it for my own version of biomax.
I see you really like rr soybeans and I think your deer density is higher in fulton county as compared to me in vermilion county. My question is how big normally are your rr bean plots?? I am concerned that the deer might hammer my beans before they get mature. I am planting them for a late season hunting plot. Also by looking at your picture of the biomaxx I think I might of broadcast to much corn in with my beans. Time will tell. I will try to post progress pics through out the summer. |
RE: Bio-Maxx test
ILL Buck,
I've tried smaller "hunting" plots of beans that were less than a 1/2 acre but the deer hit 'em so hard they just didn't have much of a chance to reach maturity. There is always the option of using Plot Saver to keep the deer out? Bigger is certainly better when talking about something they love as much as RR soybeans. If I had my choice I would prefer 3 to 5 acre plots but if I was forced to, I would settle for small 1/4 to 1/2 acre "hunting" plots. I always figure if they over browse 'em then I could just broadcast Brassicas and/or Oats in Sept over the crop? As far as broadcasting the corn to thick, I believe the Bio-Maxx is 1/3 corn so that's pretty heavy on the corn. I did check the plots yesterday and both the soybeans and the corn were just emerging. Should start to look like a plot by next weekend,... IF we can get some rain? PLEASE rain! ![]() |
RE: Bio-Maxx test
The Biomaxx bag I have has 11% Corn and the 87% Soybean. I am testing it against my RR Forage Soybeans and a RR corn hybrid suited for my area. I will keep you updated on my test in Arkansas. The soybeans in mine are maturity 4.7, 4.9, and 5.3. Not very late for the south.

RE: Bio-Maxx test
So hows the plot doing? I'm looking at hopefully planting some of this this weekend. I did spray my 1 acre plot last week with roundup ahead of time. Let me know how you make out and when you sprayed. Any information you can share with me would be great.

RE: Bio-Maxx test
I have also developed a viny type Roundup Ready Soybean that will climb up the corn. It is like the Bobwhite and Quail Haven, but has a Forage type as the parent. It looks great. I will post pictures this year as the season goes along.

RE: Bio-Maxx test
The BioMaxx is coming up. However, it's been in the 90's and there's no sign of rain anywhere in the forcast. :(

RE: Bio-Maxx test
Hey it looks good to me. Does look a little dry though. Maybe it'll rain soon. We got soaked last fall and early spring. Could use a little around here though. So did you spray it with round up? If so when how many weeks after planting??

RE: Bio-Maxx test
I hit it with Round-Up Saturday, I'l try to snap a few pix this weekend when I run out to check the trail cams.
