King Kutter 3 pt disk
Anyone have any experience with the King Kutter 3 pt disk? I'm in the market for a bigger set of disks and have looked at these at TSC and wondered if they would work well and last. I currently have about 6 acres to plant and I need something bigger than my small pull behind one now. I have a late 60's AC 170 which has around 55 HP so it would handle this implement. I may also look around at some farm auctions but I'm always leery about buying used equipment.
I think our local TSC wanted a little less than $1200 last summer for the 7.5 ft model. Here's a pic: ![]() |

I don't have any personal experience with that disc, but I do know you have to be careful buying implements from TSC because they aren't considered to be heavy duty implements, and do tend to bend or break easier.
My .02 cents. |

It doesn't look very sturdy, but I havn't seen one up close. At least it has adjustable disc. I would get a farmer friend to go and look at a good used disc, check the bearings.

They are not very strudy. Find yourself an oldheavy duty disc somewhere.

The shafts look a little thin, and so do the bearing hangers. Won't hold up if you've got any large rocks.

i'm by no means an expert but i do agree with the above post. i have a 48" disk for my tractor and it's built alot more sturdier

Those box discs by king kutter are actually really nice discs. The box frame is really sturdy and they are easy to adjust. The angle iron ones are the ones to stay away from.
![]() You might try finding a used disc. I picked up this one for $600 and it has worked really well for me. ![]() It is pretty hard to adjust but it gets the job done. FWIW, Nathan |

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems like there is mixed opinions on this piece of equipment. I'll probably search around for good used one before pullingthe trigger ona new KK disk. I wouldn't mind finding adisk with grease fittings on the bearings rather than the sealed ones.

We all know they dont make them like they youst to . Ive got an old hico.I found it for 200 bucks.. The one in the pic looks like a new less exspencive copy. It will be well worth going out of your way to find an older model and put money in it, than to get a light duty model and be peeved about spending the money only for it to bend under pressure .thats my best recomendation.

This is my ancient disk. Bought it for $150. This thing is heavy. Had to narrow the hitch to fit my small tractor.
