enough rain to grow?
#1
Ive had my plots disked and limed for a while and been waiting for rain to put out my seed. This morning we had a storm come through and drop about an inch of rain and as it was passing I went out and planted Biologic Green Patch Plus, winter wheat, winter rye, brassica, and forage turnips. By the time I was finished seeding it quit raining, and Im not sure how much ore it will rain today. I didnt drag it because Im thinking it will rain at least a little more today or tomorrow, and because it was still very muddy cause the rain hadnt soaked into the ground yet. If I dont get more rain today, will me seed germinate and grow, or should I go back and drag it with something? Let me know what I should do, or should I just leave it alone.. Also should I fertilize now or when the plot just starts to grow. Thanks

The seed should germinate fine, just hope you get a rain in the next week or so. Don't drag it, the rain should have set the seed some. Wait till the seedlings get a few inches tall and fertilize before a rain.

yep - what timber said.
It would have bee better if the seed was at least pressed into the soil before the rain, or lightly covered - but don't do it now.
Most should germinate fine, the question is, will it get a chance to get established before the next rains? Hope so. An extended drought could render the polot thin - since its not covered.
Fertilize 2-4 weeks from now - only if the plot managed - and is stablished well.
