Why do squirrels chew small green limbs off of trees?

New growth tastes better .

spring of the year they have more young than other times.the young limbs and leaves make better nest.they cut three limbs and only get to use 1 or two,they lose or drop the other.

Oh. Oh crap. Like I really need more tree rats in my red oak.
