I'm thinking about sowing a couple of acres this fall. I would like to hear of other's experiences with triticale.

My farmer neighbor used to use Triticale for a cover crop with clover or alfalfa for quite a while. Seems like he uses Barley now.

The triticale I'm familiar with is spring planted - and offered little value to the deer. Maybe a fall planted plot woulld be attractive - but I'm not sure how winter hardy it is.
