I've hunted them for 5 years now and have killed 7 deer. 6 with shotgun (only 1 nice buck)and the other was a pretty good buck with my bow.

I killed my first deer when I was 7 years old (a doe) and have had many 20 deer seasons since then. One year I killed 29. I would say well over 100.

Not many, 50 some odd. But then I got my first in 1954, so that's only a bit better'n one a year. :eek:

30 some in 13 yrs. 14 in the past two. i've been out on the west coast for seven years and didn't have the opportunity to hunt lilke I do now. for comparison, I've only killed 10 with a gun. shot my first one with a smoke pole two seasons ago.

QDM land Is 3 a day 73 days a year SCHOOLBOY thats a limit of 219 deer a year. That year I could have killed 190 more. Thats a lot ain't it! I also hunt in Florida.

different parts/counties have different limits, some counties have a 70+ doe days where you can kill 2 a day and only one can be an antlered buck, or you can take the 2 does, the counties i hunt(ed) this past year 1 had a 39 day doe season the other had 15 days, i've never really sat down and figured up how many i could actually kill in a season, but i have had several seasons were i have killed over 20 (all legal), there are some areas that the doe population needs some adjustments, but now i try to limit myself to as many does as i can kill and 2 bucks in a year, and i'm looking for 120+" on them, i like the hunters for the hungry type programs, 2 years ago i was fortuante enough to kill 11 deer, 4 bucks and seven does, i donated a good portion of the meat to one of our local programs, one of the biggest problems we have in alabama is you got so many people that will not kill does, they don't like the meat, the trouble of game care, or they are only interested in killing a buck (for the head). i like to kill as many does as possible with my bow, to help out our lop-sided buck/doe ratio and it helps with my confidence when something with some bone on his head shows up. i think the biggest thing is to hunt within the guidelines the states set up to at least help with keeping an idea of what a states deer herd is like...

btw, killing a high number of deer is not something i'm all that proud of now, thats why i useally avoid the "how many deer have you killed threads" i don't ever plan on killing them in the future like i have in the past, unless we are warned of some disasterious problems if we don't.

In four years of hunting I shot 4 deer. One buck, an 8,two does and a button buck. All with the shotgun. Of course I'v missed a few along the way. Have yet to record my first bow kill. However I have a good feeling about this year.

What do you do with 29 deer??? Thats a lot of meat! 4 deer is more then enough for me and my family of 6!
I've killed 13 antlered bucks and 30-50 does and buttons in 24 years of hunting....

Well I eat them ,Give alot to a few churches, and work with buckmasters feed the homeless program. I usually only kill 1 to 5 bucks a year. I kill as many does as I can to help with my management plan. Also in Fl. any buck is a Trophy buck to me. I hunt the waste deep swamps and such.

yeah moose is right. any florida buck is a trophy. you have to go through alot for those beasts. i've killed one buck in 6 seasons but this last season was the only time i was "seriously" hunting. but i'm ready to change that this year. you can kill and unlumitted amount of does in kentucky. you just have to buy extra anterless permits for every two.

I hav e killed afew deer, but no were near as many as you guys. One nice 9 point scored 120. Were I live (or I should say were I hunt) we cant shoot does (the snow takes care of the extras) except with a bow and I have just started getting back into that. Alot of ya guys have said that you have killed alot of buttons, do ya mean to or is it by accedent. Our DNR realy makes it a point to tell people not to shoot buttons, it kindove defets the purpuse of a doe harves to controle numbers.

Most hunters here are spoiled as hell, and don't know what it means to actually "HUNT". LOL Not to offend anybody....but my dad bought a DEER CAMP, and it was 4 years until a deer was killed. They hunted a hell of a lot harder than we do, too. :D

Anybody that hunted during lean years in their area knows what I mean. I know WAY too many people now that get pissed when they don't kill a deer every time out.

I've probably killed around 50 deer. I'm spoiled, too.....but I killed many in WV, and grew up and live in Ohio where seeing a deer was a spectacle when I first started hunting. I still hunt a couple areas in northern Ohio where the sight of a deer is somewhat of a surprise.

Know what you mean pro line. I used to hunt in WV on National park and some years I would get one, some not. And we hunted hard. I moved to MD about 10 years ago, and 4-5 a year is the norm without much work. But in MD, you can kill does and fawns. And I finally got to find out what those little one taste like. Since then I take a small one every year.

I tell people around here the kill rate in places like WV and Ky. They look at me like they are expert hunters saying they don't know how to hunt in the mountains. But if you look at thier situation, its easy. These deer travel on the sides of fields, and hedgerows. These guys sit in a hedgerow, and the deer always travel thru or over a big bait pile. If the deer get pressured up here, they have no where to run. In KY and WV, they go over the mountain. Still pressure, go over the other mountain. You ain't going to get to em.

But I have to say, since moving up here, killing ain't near as sweet as it was when you worked like the devil for it.

One thing I do like about MD is I see probably one buck every 3 doe. Good management. But in WV, I see one buck for 20-30 does. Also I see every year 18month 8 point basket racks. You didn't see that on those mountain deer.

I've been deer hunting in Alabama for 34 years and I really couldn't tell you how many deer I've killed. In fact, I worry about anyone who keeps score on deer killed. In this state I could kill over 200 yearly, but that would be really irresponsible and wasteful. I remember memorale bucks, special hunts, etc. but to count each and every deer I've killed....... Is this a new form of "mine's bigger than yours?" Aren't posts like this giving the anti-hunters ammunition?[:@]

Nope people dont have to hunt for food any more. Hunting has become a sport like it or not. You think its wrong to share Gods blessings? Its just fun swampman!

Red Hawk, I know it frustating. But hang in there. I can't remember those days when coming back iwth nothing but they did happen. Only reason I can relate is, I took up duck hunting a year or two ago. And its gets awlfully old seeing everyone limit out while you come back empty handed. Especially after 12 trips out. But this year, the worm turned and we limtied out one day. We learned a quite a bit more, and learned how to set up the decoys. And learned where to setup. Deer hunting is the same.

So what I am saying is, once you figure it out, you will be ok.

Im 30 and I killed too many to count. I killed my first at 6 years of age. A small doe that the dogs were running. I killed 11 that year. I dont ever remember killing fewer than that except the year we went to state I was 13 and only killed 3 that year I would guess around 180/ 200 ? maybe I donno

I'm no anti-hunter. I just hate hearing folks say "I killed 50 deer last year", I don't know what anyone does with 50 deer. I'm quite sure that many of those deer were young bucks. I have hunted and will continue to hunt as much as anyone but I simply don't count the success of a hunt by "how many" I killed. I do however support that hunters right to kill as many as he/she desires but I reserve the right to beleive it's wasteful. NRA life member here. Dam_ sure not an anti-hunter!

I don't care what another man has killed or not. I'm not cutting
notches in my stock. Hell, by this time I would'nt have a stock.

Sorry, I misread what you were saying. I feel just like you do. I've killed my share but I honestly couldn't answer "how many" I've killed. I can tell you how many I killed at the end of the season, but that's about it. At my stage of hunting I find signs of a good buck in pre-season scouting, after that it's him vs me. I either get him or nothing. I do take several does for meat. I cut no notches either, other than to mount the buck if I "win":D

Ya know this post made me think I have been chaseing these darn things for about 40 years now started when I was 12. I really don't know off hand how many I have taken but I have a book where I write down every deer I have ever taken and as much as I can remember about it (Date, time temp exct) cause it would be a shame to ever forget a single one of them and the excitement I had. If it wasen't for these darn deer I might be worth somthing. Good Luck Mike

wow I feel cheap.

I killed 6 deer and i've been hunting for ohhh... 12 years. Where I live, Province of Quebec, We're only allowed 1 deer per year. Which sucks big time. Anyways, 6 in 12 years is still pretty good ratio up here, some guys i've hunted with have never killed one... and they've been hunting all their lives.
