It is all relative. Like many of you I started hunting young but at a time when there were not that many deer. As a teen and young adult I killed my fair share. I grew up in Ohio, have lived in AZ and AL and now live in LA. We can kill 6 a year but no one counts. Six LA deer might have the same amount of meat as one good midwest cornfed deer. Season runs October 1 through the end of January in LA. I get to spend a lot of time in the field which seems to be more important now than the actual kill.

I go back to Ohio to hunt each year. I let bucks walk that would be a deer of a lifetime in the south. Shooting a deer at 100 yards with a rifle is not a challenge, to me, so I have worked on using a bow, muzzleloader and now a pistol. With that said any deer taken legally and humanely is a trophy, no matter what the method. I applaud those of you that feed the hungry by sharing your harvest.

The first animal I killed was a squirrel. While I have them running around my yard now I still get a rush when I see them in the woods. If I stop getting that rush I think I will stop hunting.

here in PA you cant hunt til the age of 12 and are only allowed 1 buck per year, so far im 4 for 4 and 3 does

I don't think it stinks ......in Manitoba we are also only allowed one deer per license/year.That means one for archery,one blackpowder,one rifle,plus we also have anterless tags and shotgun for certain areas.I hunt the three main seasons so that means I could take three deer in one year.For me and my family thats more than enough.I really like the Hunters feeding the hungy programs and wish we had better ones up here,but I still can't see shooting 20 deer or more a year just to give it away.Sounds like good ammo for the anti's to me.That being said we certainly do not have the deer density that some of you do especially in the southern states so that may have an influence as well.I have been hunting deer for about 20 years and have taken around 25 deer in that time.
