RE: Anyone Bow Hunting Alberta

That time of the year I would spend a lot of time in a tree stand overlooking a well used warter hole. If it is a dry year there will sometimes be fewer water sources but they will be used heavily by the game in the area. In wetter years the game can get a drink in more places and do not concentrate. But even at a river or stream you can sometimes find the deer have a favorite place to get down for a drink.

Game is using mineral licks more at this time of year than they do later on as well. If your outfitter is worth his salt he will have some of these stand locations figured out for you. If you can't or don't like to spend all your time in a tree stand, small drives to push game through escape funnels can be effective anywhere and at any time of year.

The funnels that concentrate deer moving to their favorite farm fields to feed in, are good for tree stands. Again the outfitters job is to locate these spots for you.

Good luck to you and let us know how you make out.

Robin
