Ziess or Swarovski ???
who makes better optics Ziess or swarovski ?
|
RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
I like Zeiss.
|
RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
Both are great optics, but I think Swarovski manufactures the best optics made.
|
RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
i hear that both of them are good but they are to darn expensive for me
|
RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
i heard that swarovski is heavier ... is it true ?

RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
Schmidt and Bender,Zeiss and Swarovski are so close it would indeed take someone with lots of experience at the wheel using all three to even tell a scintilla of difference. Schmidt makes a great scope but the lenses come from elsewhere. Zeiss and Swarovski make their own lenses. Schmidt is a heavier scope then the other two. I spoke to the optic guy at Marks outdoors in Birmingham Alabama a few years back and asked him this same question. His answer was that he had been a Schmidt user for years and tried out a Zeiss VM and was amazed at the scope..brilliant compact and lightweight. If I had to buy one myself It would be the VM no questions asked. All in All the three brands are best of the best

For the money. Zeiss
For the quality. Swarovski |

For the money. Zeiss For the quality. Swarovski WHere did you come up with that? Probably out of the three mentioned scope Schmidt is the best built and rugged. |
RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
i use a ziess and love it but if i had the extra money i would have gotten a Swarovski

RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
After much consideration I bought a new Zeiss Diavari VM V 3x12x56 this week. Most everybody had the same answer, not enough difference to tell a difference. I thought I had a Swarovski bought on e-bay for $1,000 but some jackleg bid $1,181. Later on they e-mailed me and said the guy couldn't fulfill his bid, but I had already bought the Zeiss.

RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
Sounds like you bought the right scope timbercruiser..let me know how that one works out

RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
I like Zeiss myself...;)

I was curious about the guys that are giving their opinion. The opinion is go for the Swarovski if you have the money. I was wondering how many of you that want the Swarovski have actually hunted with one. I did the same thing. Everyone says that Swarovski is the best so I should buy one. After three years of using the Swarovski, I wish I would have bought a good quality Leupold. I find that my Leupolds are as good or better quality than the Swarovski, especially when it gets a little dark.

RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
Several years ago,all of my hunting rifles had leupold varix III scopes mounted. After looking through another hunters ziess diavari and seeing how clear and bright it was,I changed out my scopes to the 1" ziess models.I also bought a couple of conquests for two of my range rifles when they first came out. After looking through another hunters swarovski 3x10x42,I sold my ziess scopes and mounted the swarovski 3x10x42 scopes. These scopes are very slightly lighter and smaller than the equivalent xvIII and brighter than either the vari xIII,vxIII or conquest.Overall,I find these swarovski scopes to be the best scopes that I have ever used.

I like Leupolds, but I just consider them average at gathering light. I wish they were even average at that but their not. They only lead in the compact area and some fixed scopes .. I cannot justify their prices . |
RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
Hey Oldelkhunter, I appreciate your input on my questions about different scopes over the last couple of weeks. I have had too many cheap scopes and decided to treat myself with the Zeiss. After checking prices all over the internet, my local gun shop gave me the best price of all on the same exact scope.

RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
Timbercruiser..you purchased a Dandy and can probably hunt 24 hours a day with that thing if legal. Good Luck I am looking at the 2.5-10x50 VM and I have a lead or 2 from a good dealer. For their Size and weight and optics they simply cannot be matched. Schmidt is a smaller company and their scopes are pretty much hand built but look at their prices and the Swaro is more money but a Quality scope as well.

RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
One of the reasons I prefer Zeiss is because they're all about optics: binoculars, scopes, camera lenses, microscopes, etc. and they've been doing it a long time. I could be wrong, but I don't think they're engaged to any degree in any non-optics related ventures. That is to say, practically everything they do is optics related in some form or fashion. On the other hand, Swarovski's primary business is making crystal jewelry, figurines and collectibles. I know because we sell it in one of our stores. It's good stuff for sure, but it leads me to believe that they're not the expert in optics that Zeiss is.
Swarovski optics are good, there's no doubt about that, but I just have more peace of mind buying scopes from a "true" optics company. Besides, Zeiss is easier to say. |
RE: Ziess or Swarovski ???
I guess I didn't mean to judge Swarovski in general. It could be just a problem with the high power scopes. Side by side Leupold, Swarovski, and Zeis. I like the clarity of the Zeis over my scope but I love the TDS style on my Swarovski.
