Feedback on Browning A Bolt 300 WSM
I was wondering if any of you guys have an opinion on the Browning A Bolt in the 300 WSM for hunting WT deer? I now shoot a Thompson Encore 7mm08 but think it to be a little light for Canadian deer and thought about going to the 300 WSM ... I would appreciate your comments if you have any fisrt hand info ...

The first hand part leaves me out, but I can't imagine any deer that the 7mm-08 won't kill, if the shot placement is where it is suppose to be.

I would have to agree with timbercruiser. I don’t see why the 7mm-08 wouldn’t be sufficient for deer hunting. I know of a few guys around here that use 243 with a great deal of success on large body animals. Now if it’s an excuses to get a new rifle then the 300wsm is a must.

7mm-08 would take down the biggest elk with a well placed shot trust me.but i've got a hunting partner with the 300 wsm in a stainless stalker he loves it.i've fired it once the recoil seemed minimal to me.go for it.

I bought a 300 WSM (Browning A-Bolt Medallion) in 2003 and I am pleased with it. It's is very accurate. I can get 1" groups at 100 yards with 180 grain Speer Grand Slams, and I am certainly not an amazing shooter. However, I am sure a 7mm-08 is plenty of gun for any deer... so it's your choice.

I love my a-bolt in the 300wsm. I have had it for several years topped with a bushnell 3200. I do my part and the deer don't go far. I'm shooting the 150g ballistic silvertips out of it with no complaints.
My dad shoots a 7mm-08 in a Remington 7 and it has also performed well and is light and easy for him to carry (he is 75).
I don't think you could go wrong with either but I do love the 300wsm..
Good luck!
