I am thinking about getting a Mossberg trophy slugster to put a scope on.
All I've ever used in the shotgun dept on deer is 12 gauge. Has anyone used 20 gauge slugs on deer? Do they put 'em down good. I would think that a 20 gauge would maybe shoot flatter. Anyone have any feedback on 20 gauge or even the Mossberg 20 gauge Trophy Slugster?

Ok, Slugman. I looked and they look sweet. Now, how much? I like the deluxe model with the laminated stock. I guess being a single shot doesn't bother me none. I bet I could jack a second round in there just as quick as needed. I subscribe to the "one shot" society anyhow. When all goes well that is.

I have the 12ga , and spent $190 for the gun & 100 on a scope. It just doesnt take deer down , it knocks em over. I shot a doe this year with mine and she dropped where she stood. The single shot is not bad at all , with this gun one is all it takes.

Hunted with 12ga for 40+ years. I bought a deerslayer 3 years ago.I wish I had gotten one when I started.6 deer so far and 3 dropped, the others didn't run more than 30 yards.I use Gold Partition but have heard the lightfields work well also. They do run about $10.00 a box though.I THINK THEY CLAIM 3 INCH DROP AT 200 YARDS.I sighted mine in about a inch high at 75 yards. They go where I shoot.

I shot a 20 guage for 3 years and killed many deer with it. My favorite brand of slug is breneke rotweil in the 3in version. I have shooit these slugs for over 10 years and never had a problem sighted mine in at 100 yards..

I hunt with a guy that uses a 20 gauge, he hasn't failed to get a deer yet. I don't look at them too much differently compared to a 12, as long as you are a good shot they will both take down the deer.

A 20 ga. works pretty good as long as you try to shoot to far! If your gun's going to have a fully rifled barrel try using Winchester Partition Gold or Remington Core-Lokt Ultra sabot slugs! Their good for about 125 yards or so!
