Default Hunting in rain

Besides being wet, is there anything different about hunting in the rain? Will deer come out more or less or no difference?

I find they stay out longer in the rain and snow. Just like a little kid playing in puddles. But beware their sense of smell is better in the rain.

when its raining, deer seem to be on pins and needles. same as high wind. they can't use their keen sense of hearing against predators, so they have to be on constant alert. in a heavy downpour, their sense of smell is gone. a light rain or a mist will enhance their sense of smell. when hunting in the rain, you have to be very observant, as theyll be right on top of you before you know it. i dont think they come out more in the rain, i think they'll probably bed down during teh day longer, as theyre losing their sense of hearing. as far as snow goes, they tend to bed down in heavier snows. they love cedar trees during snow and rain. a light snow doesnt botherthem much. if its very cold and the snow is prolonged, you'll probably find them around the fields.

I dunno, but I shot my first deer in a cold drizzle and my boyfriend's stepmom (yes ANOTHER woman hunter... WOOHOO!) shot a doe last Saturday in the pouring rain while we were up there... it sucks tracking it, I helped, but couldn't seem much of anything, EVERYTHING looks red in the rain (colored leaves, etc...)

Seems they like moving in rain, but I am still rather inexperienced.

I love drizzle when hunting. I have seen alot of activity in a slow rain. but I always hunt game trails not scrape lines when the weather turns bad.

I love hunting in a light to medium rain. You can sneak thru the woods without making a sound. When the rain gets heavy it has been my experience they bed down. At least the two I shot in heavy rain were bed down. Besides when the weather gets bad every one goes home and I get the woods to myself.

I killed one of my nicer bucks back in 2000 in a 34 degree gully-washer while everyone else was laid up back at camp. My shot actually woke a couple of them back up.
