RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
I'm going to try the exact same technique next week in Missouri. This will be a first for me, so I'm interested in any responses as well.

RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
i also hunt in wisconsin and I've noticed that the can calls do not work as well as others. i personally use a woodswise 6-in-1 buck-n-doe combo call. this call works great and is not to expensive.

RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
i have taken bucks on doe in heat and bleats---but it does work best if you have run a drag rag to the doe in heat . if possible use a decoy

RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
I called a buck off a doe it was chasing on Monday with the Can. I hit it 10 times in a row to make sure he heard it and bagged the deer 5 minutes later. I've had good success with the Can during the pre-rut/rut period here in PA.

They work better then anything else I tried.

RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
I bought one just this year, and have been using it here in MT. In two instances so far I've tipped the can for deer I could see. First, a spike buck, and he was really interested and seemed on the verge of coming over, but I don't want a spike so I hid from him. Second, I hit the can with a herd of does and fawns in sight below me. The lead doe did not approve! She took to stomping and snorting at me, although wind was clearly in my favor and she had no sight line to me.
I'd call that a split decision, but I have to use it more before I come to a firm conclusion. |
RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
The ones that make money from them will say they do!:D
Never tried one. |
RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
This is my first year realy trying to call.Called one Buck from a Doe with the Can.Called another one Rattling Horns and Grunting.
Had one bunch of Deer pay no attention to me. oneshot 1 |
RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
Tried "the can" on a few different deer yesterday- not a one of them really seemed to care about it. I've never even been too impressed wih grunt tubes. I've had more success rattling than anything else.

RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
I think it was Thursday I bleated in a Llama and today 3 house cats came running toward me when they heard it.

ORIGINAL: cardeer I think it was Thursday I bleated in a Llama and today 3 house cats came running toward me when they heard it. I've seen the can and other calls work on t.v., so it must be true...right??? HA!!! Good luck |
RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
YES it does work. I have called several books to the can in the past week. I mean they came in on a dead run and freaked out when they seent he Decoy. I thought it was a bunch of BS until I seenit work.

RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
im not sure about the can but im going to get one and try it out.
but i did use a Primos Trphy Grunter 2 weeks ago on the 23rd of oct. and called in an 8pt he ran past me twice befor i got a shot at him on his 3rd time coming by me looking for the doe. i called agine after he grunted twice when i hit the doe bleat he stop and i took him down. |
RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
I used a grunt tube last year to bag a 7 pointer. No scent, just 3 soft bleats, and he came over a rise right at me.
This was early december during the rut in GA. |
RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
You're dang skippy them calls work!!!
We was driving to the club one morning when my stupid brother started blowing a grunt tube, all of a sudden a buck jumps out in front of the truck and wham!!!!! CAUTION!!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS DEVICE WHILE DRIVING AN AUTOMOBILE!!!!!!! |
RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
I used the Can this fall for the first time, and I had great luck with it. I would combine it with short grunts and do little series of about 5 bleats, in sets of three every so often (not really sure of how long in between). I had many deer come running in it seemed like right after I called. Two good bucks that were heading the opposite direction completely turned around and headed to me after I bleated at them once or twice. I think it is a very advantageous method for huntin'.

RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
the can isint working for me. i tried it on a deer and it ran away faster than anything. im putting mine on the shelf with my deer snort call and all the other magic weapons. the grunt call will be next. maybe if there is alot of buck competition they may come but not in my state of new jersey. we have alot of deer but the ratio is out of wack like most of the country. if i lived in texas or something they might work better but im done bringing the extra crap with me out to my stands[:@]

RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
How about the big can for long range bleats, does this also work and are there any variations on how it can be used

|
RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
I got the big can this year and tried it in WV, sometimes every few hours, sometimes 15 minutes apart. No responses...

RE: Do Estrus Bleats work ?
I'm not gonna retell the whole story. I posted it in Northeast forum about 4 weeks ago.
Long and Short - I bought the Large Can this year after talking to local guy who had luck with it last yr. I called in a nice basket rack 6pnt with it (let him walk). Played with this buck for 20+ minutes. He couldn't figure out where this Doe chick was. The can works!! IMO the big can works better, better tone and long distance. From my experiance these calls & grunts only work(exceptions I'm sure) if a buck is alone and not tending doe(s). It's like a young buck in a bar. A guy walks in with a drop dead gorgeous chick(s). Why would he leave for some bimbo chick across the room he doesn't even know! |
