Default what do u think about more doe tags?

Hi.. i live on a farm in North Dakota and i was wondering how the deer population is in some other states. because we have a very very health deer population... mabe too healty.. we have a problem with em we have cattle and they seem to get into our feed we try to chase them away(with the pickup horn) but they just run into the trees and the next day they are there. there is some nice bucks in the bunch but like 40 does with like 10 to 15 of them bucks. so we are more worried about the does being harvested.... what do u think???????????

im not sure about the regs there, but you can probably take more then one doe a season.
i think doe tags are vital to a good healthy deer herd.

ya i agree with you. but u gota remeber this is after deer gun and bow season is over. we shot like 14 does in all out of the trees. and like 5 regular bucks(like 5 by 5's with 15 in spread). we have alot of hunters in our family so since my dad owns the land i get the first week to get my deer. then we let my uncles and aunts and cousins hunt it. well there u have it

I'm all for it, it gets the buck to doe ratio's put in perspective. Too many guys shoot anything with antlers.

I'M FOR IT, IN THE NORTHEAST PART OF WASHINGOTN STATE THEY HAD SPECIAL PERMITS FOR 2 WHITETAIL DOE TAGS, YOU HAD TO GET DRAWN FOR THE SPECIAL PERMITS, AND A LOT OF THE FARMERS UP THERE WOULD HAVE BIG SIGNS UP SAYING DOE PERMIT HOLDERS STOP HERE, THEY WOULD TAKE YOU DOWN TO THE FEILDS AND DROPP YOU OFF AND IF YOU SHOT A DOE THEY WOULD TAKE THEIR TRACTOR DOWN TO THE DEER AND PICK IT UP AND TAKE IT TO THEIR BARN AND SKIN IT OUT FOR YOU.

In Va. you can kill doe until they come out of your ears, you can kill 2 a day for the entire season. If they are causing a lot of damage to your farm you may be able to get a special permit to cull them out.

Yeah, but Buck Magnet, he said 40 deer with 15 of them being bucks...that is roughly a 3 to 1 ratio of does to bucks....where I hunt in PA the ratio is more like 7 or 8 to 1...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

MrFishy,

I am all for doe tags in areas that need a sizable herd reduction because of an excessive doe population...I really have such a hard time comprehending that there was a time when folks didn't believe in doe tags....not to mention still don't.

I think they should give more doe tags here. I saw about 50 does and maybe 4 bucks this year!
