How about one of those pre made wooden sheds with windows doors and all just dropped off for a start. think they go about $1200 or so. Than take your time to fix it up. There real popular in Connecticut. MTF if you need it.

An option a friend of mine used was a ship container. I don't know where he got it but he ended up cutting holes for windows, a door, roof vent, ect... Studded the inside, insulated it, built 2 sets of bunkbeds, even drywalled it. Did all the work @ home then just dropped it off on the hunting property on the weekend.

I have made a small little cabin at my hunting land it took 2 weekends to make with 2 other guys. This summer we are hoping to make it where it will be a three bed room. Its going to be a BIG adition. But right now its like a little box. Its about 21 ft by 21 ft and has a little lofted sealing. This weekend i will try to post some pictures

I started building my cabin in April, the thing started as a nice simple little weekend cabin but as time went on I (also the wife and 2 daughters) kept adding more to it. I have spent alot time, sweat and money on this but since it's on my 425 acre farm it's an investment to me. I have posted pics of it being built before....did 95% of the work myself, the other 5% from my wife. I am slowly being able to finish out the interior, it's about 70 miles away from my home and a go there on the weekends to work. This past weekend I just about finished the kitchen, next weekend I plan on hooking up the water and finish off the 2 upstairs bedrooms.

lol...I have become possessed, I want to "git her done", hunting season starts in 3 weeks and deer hasnt crossed my mind yet..[&:]

I can relate..sorta...LOML has found the "perfect" floor plan for a one BR/Kitchen/Loft/Living room 20 by 30 Cabin. Note "My" Cabin has no indoor plumbing, no water line, and no power...."Her" cabin (probably on the docket for 2005/2006) will have indoor plumbing, power, and all the froo froo stuff.

We will end up with Cabin One...mine that will be a hunting cabin for me to use, and the "Us" cabin that wont tolerate muddy boots, good old boys hanging out, and the like.

Yours looks outstanding, very well done. I like Hardipanels, I used them for the siding on my outhouse!

Wooddust that is one of the main reasons I want a simple cabin. I figure that I can make something that I like, but that she will not want to step foot in. That would be a perfect arrangement. Peppers, I am pretty good with a hammer, and I don't see this being a big deal. I just have to get more ideas before I commit one way or another. I have thought about the pre-made idea, but I think that I want to make it myself, so that I can get it exactly like I want it. Thanks for all of the posts guys. It has definitely given me some great ideas, and I can't get the rainwater filtration system out of my head. Did you buy it premade, or rig it up yourself. thanks again.

Here's the water system, has two screen systems before going into barrel and I add clorine. One line goes to sink outside and one to the sinks inside.
