Default Deer Poop

I am bow hunting a small track of land next to my home. While in preperation for bow season, I have noticed some scattered Deer poop and I have noticed some clumped poop that resembles Deer poop but it is clumped up. i have had several people tell me that a Mature Buck will have clumped poop. Does anyone know if this is true? Give me yall's input. The food source in this area is mostly green brow and acorns. The Deer are killing my corn as well.

I believe it relates to the feed, not the sex of the deer.

When deer are feeding browse, you get mostly pellets. When they are on greens and crops you get the clumps.

Actually you CAN tell the sex of a deer by the poop: a buck tastes slightly sour and a doe tastes slightly sweet.

At least that's what I told my young nephew years ago the first year I took him hunting. Only I used Tootsie Roll shaped to look like droppings. Couldn't get him to try it, though. Funniest thing I ever saw watching him try to work up the nerve to put that in his mouth Waited for two weeks before I smartened him up; has said for years that he's going to get even!

Actually when the poop is clumped together it means that the deer has just got up from bedding. The sex of the deer cannot be determined by its poop.

Correctamundo! It either means the deer was bedding there or is constipated.

bruce is right you have to taste it to be sure also you may get indication of how far ahead the deer is by the warmth of the morsel
