Yes, rifled slugs are what you want. You may have good luck with "hybrid" slugs as well. Brenneke and Lightfield make those, they work in smoothbores too. Remington's buckhammer may work for you.

Just try some until you find one that gives you the accuracy you need for the ranges you expect to shoot.

Don't use sabot slugs.

I shoot Winchester Super-X 2¾" HP rifled slugs out of my 870 Wingmaster with an improved cylinder choke. I can hit a pie plate out to 75 yards offhand, although they do drop pretty quickly farther out.

you really need to try a bunch of differant slugs to see what works best for you I've got a Mossberg 500 and the cheap Winchesters are what shoots the best for me smooth bore and $2 a box slugs.... guess I'm living in the 19th century

I've used for years the old stand by Remington 11/4 oz sluggers. I am a big fan of them and the shock of that big chunk of lead hitting the boiler room works great for me.

I have a winchester 1300 with a rifled barrel. I have shot winchester partition golds, lightfields, federals. None of them shoot very well out of my gun. Sam444, how do you like the 695, i have always thought of getting one, but i better decide here real quick seeing they are going out of production.
