I was scouting some locations yesterday afternoon and I came upon a small area about 10 feet off the road. I got out of my vehicle and as soon as I hit the woods I saw tracks everywhere.
The area is probably 40 yards in diameter and there is almost no underbrush present. There are 4 BIG white oak trees, and I also noticed 3 pecan trees. The ground was littered with pecans and acorns... the acorns were old and had to be from last year... but the pecans were green and fresh.
My question is... Will deer eat pecans ???

yes they will big time, but it sounds as if u are in an area with a ton of "food" trees. u will have to find which ones they prefer to hit and sit it out. look for an area that has a high concentration of does and the bucks will come at one point.

Well the acorns are from last year and from what I have read White oaks only produce acorns about every 3 years.
But the Pecans are so fresh and green... I just hope that the tree is still producing them in November when the season starts.
ALSO... I was scouting another spot about an hour ago... and I found a set of non-typical sheds from last year... they are real sun faded. 8 points on left and 7 points on the right. I CAN'T WAIT TOO SEE WHAT THIS DEER LOOKS LIKE THIS YEAR !!!
