i am only 13 now and i want to know is it better to get a .270 rifle or a .243 because i am new to steal hunting i have dog drived all my life and i am finaly going to start steal hunting so can u tell me which one has more power to it so i can mabe kill a deer longer distance :D

tThe .243 will still be good for any whitetail out to about 300 yards. Your other choice, the .270 is a darn good deer caliber too, so it will mainly be a personal choice!

.270 has more recoil
.243 has less power and recoil, but a deer isn't gonna know that;)


Power won't make up for poor shot placement. If your sensitive to recoil or haven't shot a lot of rifles, a .243 may be better.

I would take the 25-06 over either of the other two for deer only.More than enough power for any deer,as flat shooting as the 270 but with less recoil.

get the 243 sweet little round weither you are just starting out or have been shooting all your life. you don't need a matcho gun to embress anyone you just need something you like.

i have 2 270's and love them both and they are great rounds don't get me wrong. however the 243 is better ;). more then 1 deer has fallen to the 243.

a 243 was my first rifle and I still use it today. It's plenty of rifle and it won't kick you death. I've been lost a deer using the 243.
