shooting from tree stand
What do you use to rest your gun on when you are up in your stand getting ready to take a shot? I have a few stands that I dont have anything to rest my gun on.

RE: shooting from tree stand
If you own a factory made stand, some come with shooting rests. If you do not, I always find the side of the tree is good when I am standing up. I try and use my elbow resting on my legs when I am setting down.

RE: shooting from tree stand
I shoot off hand 90% of the time and use the tree the rest of the time.

RE: shooting from tree stand
Wrap your sling below your elbow so that it is a snug fit. It should help stabalize your arm and rifle.

RE: shooting from tree stand
If your in or against a tree , The tree is there for most of the angles.

RE: shooting from tree stand
Most the time I don't use anything, most shooting rests that come mounted already are too low for me, and I don't really like to shoot sitting down most the time. I bought a deal from cabela's a few years back, forget what it's called but straps to your tree, it's two bars in a line, one hinges at the tree and has the other hinged on its end, the end of it has a rest (moves kind of like your arm with your hand being the rest, positions ANYWHERE)....thing's great, it's not in the way if you don't want to use it, but it's incredibly handy if you want to use it, not to mention you can set it at any height on the tree so you can shoot standing or sitting.
