Would you do it?
If you were planning a hunting trip, then found out your guide was only twenty years old would you feel discouraged about going? The quality of the hunt and lodging would be competitive with anywhere else, but the guides age being the only difference. Tell me what you think?

No I wouldnt be discouraged as long as he knew what he was doing and would keep a slow pace for this old fat man.

RE: Would you do it?
I think you have to look at the big picture. He may be only 20 but that doesn't mean he's any less/more a guide than someone older. An outfitter is more than just one person and most times the guide is merely the person that accompanies you on that particular hunt. Most of the ground work/scouting is done by everyone emplyed there (your guide included) so I wouldn't be overly concerned about it. WR

If this guide was hired by an outfitter he probably knows what he is doing. JMO

RE: Would you do it?
I would feel OK if the hunting guide was 16 yrs old, if he/she was recommended. I know a lot of 20 yrs old hunters that know a heck of a lot more than folks that have been hunting for 20yrs. Age is definitely not a factor here.

i think i would still do it, but, on the other side of the coin. what if that same 20yr old guide was the owners kid. i may be a little shy then.

RE: Would you do it?
I have a 14yr old cousin that knows more about the bush, small engines, and fishing then I do at 30yrs, mainly because he lives way up north and his dads a trapper. I wouldn't want to use a 20yr old surgeon, but theres no reason he shouldn't be a good guide.

I just hope I could keep up with the kid<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

That wouldn't bother me abit that he's only 20 YO.He might have grown up in that area and knows it like the back of his hand.If your not satisfied or think he's not capable ask for another guide the next day. I think it's only fair to give him a chance to prove himself.Good luck on your hunting adventure. Ruger Redhawk

RE: Would you do it?
I think i would have a lot of doubt,at 20 years old he would't have a lot of experence but would have a great amount of stamina which is a lot of elk hunting, but those years of knowing where the elk are would be is kinda doubtful.we had hunted a area for several years and a new guide took over and we recieved the young guy for our hunt,he knew about elk and their habits the only thing he didn't have was the experence of the local area which to me is the most imporant reason in having a guide.half of the time he didn't know where he was at and the half he was asking us where we were at.not that he was a bad guy he just didn't have the experence.
