I always believe that the next state record will come from the areas I hunt.

RE: what are the chances?

My hunting district in western MT has seen 3 140+ bucks checked through the check station in two years, the biggest in the low 150s. Our bucks need to live 5 or 6 years to reach that level. You could say my chances are pretty low of killing a record book buck, but so what? A 120-class buck looks awfully good to my eyes.

I would say slim and none but I don't want to get too excited [:'(]

My attitude now says I will 100% shoot a record class buck. Now the deer just has to walk by. Seriously though, I hunt some pretty good land that has sign of big one's. Not to mention it is in Buffalo County WI, so they are definately there.

This year I will be hunting some new land that hasn't seen any hunting pressure in over 15 years, I mean no one has ever hunted this land, one guy hunts it once a year for one day and leaves empty handed, I have scouted it long and hard and have seen more deer sign in a hundred yards here than I have ever seen any where else, I hunt in Stuben Co. NY and I think if I play my cards right I have a good chance at a record book buck, I've seen some nice ones in there. Good luck to all!

I have a small to decent chance at taking a deer meeting P&Y, depending on which property I am hunting. Pretty much NONE of taking a state record type deer. It's good to have hope, but its better to understand reality.

The chances of me shooting a record deer are very very good. I am always looking for a huge buck, and if I shoot one, he's gonna be huge.

Taking another P&Y buck for me this year won't be a shocker if it happens. Seeing a B&C sized buck is very rare around here. The past two years I've seen P&Y sized deer....one I see daily!;)

RE: what are the chances?

In ohio we have had several state records, like the beatty buck is the most recent, and three years ago a fella i graduated high school with in 1997 shot a state record in 1999. I have seen alot of p&y bucks in my area last year, and two really big ones. So i am very optomistic this year for a record, atleast a record in my book.
