You did the right thing, but I bet it didn't feel like it when the ol boy suddenly disappeared. But, I imagine if you thought out your feelings at that moment, you were tore up because you didn't get the proper shot, not that you didn't take it. Good job and get him this year, he'll be bigger.

Good job.
Definitely do not take the shot if the arrow's path is not clear.

Like 'The Nuge" says, the right shot will come, be patient.

I think you did the right thing. You shouldn't shoot unless you are completely confident with you shot.

RE: Did I do the right thing?

i passed on dozens of turkeys i could have killed.....didnt kill one till my 5th year....had them infront of me every year.....i just didnt know what the 12ga could do.....didnt know how hard it was to kill a turkey....so i wanted a nice close clear still shot.....my 5th year i knew alot about the 12 from shootins 100s of squirrels and said im taking one when i see one if i have a shot.....since then i havent not filled my tags......just something i had to get over.......do i kick myself for not having atleast 4 more turkey beards to hang on the rope because i didnt shoot?? nope......in my mind i know i did the right thing.......its always up to the shooter......i always wanted a better shot i KNOW i could make...not one i was unsure of....i think i did the right thing....and in your case i think you DEFINENTLY did the right thing...bow hunting is something that takes good judgment like you made....its not like a rifle where you can sight it in perfectly and know thats right wehre your going to hit....its was a chancy shot for a bow....i say good job...hes still alive go get him this year.......

Kudos to you for doing the right thing! Go get him this season....;)

One good rule of thumb I always go by is "When in doubt don't" that phrase has served me well for almost 48 years.

Again, Well done!!

You did the right thing but next time try to make it happen instead of it coming to you you go to it. You become a better hunter that way.
