They are fibromas and not malignant. I would donate the meat though if I killed such an animal just thinking about them would destroy my appetite. If anyone remembers the Great Swamp Hunt in New Jersey the first few years lots of deer were taken that had these on them. At the time DOW claimed it was because of high population density in the area.

I doubt it's buckshot exit wounds. I've shot quite a few deer with buckshot and very seldom have that many exit wounds if any.

ORIGINAL: Rottweiler

Contacted the local game warden. He gave me a " It's nothing serious" type answer. It almost seemed that he really didn't want to bother with me. Typical of most government employees I've dealt with
Try again, but this time try the Wildlife Biologist for your area. Most Game Wardens are Law Enforcement types and know little about diseases in wildlife unless they have been around for quite awhile. The Biologists are experts in that area and most of them I have met are more than willing to talk to you. They are also excellent sources of information concerning almost anything related to population densities and habitat conditions. Most people, government employees included, love to talk about themselves and their jobs. All you have to do is show an interest in learning and they will help. Another good source is the county agriculture agent but they typically are better at identifying plants and soil related problems, they are great for helping to sort out any questions or problems you may have with food plots
and the advice has already been paid for via your taxes.
